** More details for each of the following commitments can be found in the Volunteer Positions and Duties Document and the LCDS Policy Summary document.
- Volunteer Commitment
All families are expected to volunteer for a position either on the Board of Directors or on a committee. All families will select a volunteer position at the time of registration. - Parent Helper Duty – One representative from each family will be scheduled approximately once per month for a Parent Helper Day (this person could be mom or dad, grama, auntie or a family friend). Families provide their availability to LCDS and will be scheduled on the calendar to the best of the scheduler’s abilities. On the scheduled Parent Helper Day, the parent is responsible for bringing and preparing in class, the scheduled healthy snack and beverage for 17 children (ie. Fruit & Crackers, Veggies and Crackers, Sandwiches, Cheese & Crackers or Parent’s Choice). There will also be some daily cleaning duties and assistance with project preparations and class activities. It is also a special day for your child, they get to be the helping hand on that day and perform some special leadership responsibilities.
- 1 Classroom Cleaning per registered child (Dates are provided at registration for families to sign up).
- Fundraising – LCDS families have chosen to pay a one-time family fundraising fee per year instead of running numerous fundraisers each year. Each family will submit a $350.00 fee at the beginning of September and will receive a tax donation receipt for $350.00. Families may also choose to fundraise instead of paying the fee, please see the Volunteer Duties document for more details.
- 3 Bingo Shifts per registered child (Dates are provided at registration).
- 1 Casino Shift per family (Only on a casino year; there are a limited number of shifts available, those families who do not get a shift will be required to fulfill the commitment with an extra bingo shift).
- General Membership Meetings – Every family that has a child enrolled in LCDS is automatically a member of our non-profit society. This gives you voting rights and the ability to provide input towards the evolution of LCDS. The Societies Act, and our school Bylaws require at least 3 membership meetings per year to maintain our society status and regulation requirements.
Each registered family is asked to have one parent attend each of the three required General Membership Meetings which take place in September, January, and May (AGM). These meetings are your chance to be informed, be heard and to meet other parents. This also ensures quorum is met if there is need for a membership vote and ensures society operations are being carried out accordingly.
**A list of required Deposit Cheques to be provided upon registration can be found under the Registration Menu tab under the Members Fees menu tab.
**Opt out policies are available for the above items which equate to sacrificing the required deposit cheque(s) for each item the family is opting out of. Please see the Volunteer Positions and Duties Document for more details.[/vc_column_text][stm_single_image img_id=”5320″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
